August 26th, 2011

It has been a few months since the website has seen some updates, but things have been busy and it has been a great few months! The weather this summer has been wonderful with only a few weeks of severe heat and humidity. The heat has been quite mild and comfortable for training.

At the end of April, a group of students took a train to Sichuan with Master Yuan for a week of travel. The group spent two days at E Mei Shan and also visited the Giant Panda Breeding Facility and spent some time exploring Cheng Du.After a week's worth of pandas, Daoist and Buddhist Temples, and endless bowls of hot pot, the group headed back to Wudang. To read the full write up about the group's time in Sichuan and to see pictures of the sites they visited, be sure to have a look at the traditional class's website:www.wudangtaoistarts.com.

Early in August Master Yuan and a group of about 45 students went on a trip to a historical site in Xiang Fan (about a 2.5 hour drive from Wudang). The group traveled to Gu Long Zhong, the home of Zhu-Ge Liang.Zhu-Ge Liang is one of the most famous strategists in Chinese history. He is a familiar character for those who have seen the movie Red Cliff.Zhu-Ge Liang lived during the Warring States period and was Liu Bei's strategist.Alongside being an accomplished strategist, Zhu-Ge Liang is also well known as an inventor and master of divination. He is credited as being the inventor of the repeater crossbow in China. He spent 10 years in seclusion in Xiang Fan farming, studying, and cultivating himself.

The area of Gu Long Zhong is beautiful and offers many amazing views including a small pond filled with lotus flowers and a pagoda topping the small mountain. One thing that everyone enjoyed and some only navigated through after lots of trial and error was the Bagua Maze.Have a look at the pictures below.

On August 16th traditional class members Jeff, Louis, and Simon left for a week of performances with Grandmaster Zhong Yun Long, Masters Jiang Fei and Xiao Long You, as well as some of their students. The performances took place at Kong Tong Shan in Gan Su province. The performance showcased the martial arts of Wudang, Shaolin, Kongtong, Kunlun, and Emei.Although it rained for much of the time that they were there, they all did a wonderful job representing Wudang.Have a look at the pictures of their time in Gan Su below.
